What a standing post looks like
A standing post is an officer at your property for a fixed shift: a gate, a lobby, a job site after the crew leaves, a loading dock, a parking structure. Before the first shift we walk the site with you and write post orders, a plain-language document that says where the officer stands, what they watch for, who they call, and what they log.
Officers arrive in uniform, check in with dispatch, and follow the post orders. A supervisor visits posts during the shift. At the end of every shift you get a written report, and incidents are reported to you as soon as we know about them.
Typical assignments on Hawaiʻi Island
- Overnight job-site security for contractors, with equipment and material checks at set intervals
- Lobby and gate posts at resorts, condominiums, and gated communities
- After-hours access control at warehouses, yards, and agricultural operations
- Daytime presence at retail centers and medical offices
- Temporary coverage during a vacancy, a dispute, a storm, or a high-value delivery
How officers are selected and trained
Every officer holds a Hawaiʻi guard card, which requires state-approved training and a background check. On top of that, we train for the work we actually do here: how to greet a guest at a resort gate, how to handle a trespasser on a farm road, how to write a report a property manager or a police officer can use.
We staff posts with officers from the same side of the island whenever we can. It is how a shift in Kaʻū or Kohala gets covered on short notice.
Questions about this service
What is the minimum shift length?
Most posts are four hours or longer. For shorter coverage, a scheduled patrol visit is usually a better fit and costs less. We will recommend whichever one solves your problem.
Can you start this week?
Often, yes. Call dispatch and we will tell you honestly what we can staff and when. Emergency coverage after a break-in or storm is something we do regularly.
Do you provide reports?
Yes. Daily activity reports after every shift and an incident report whenever something happens. Reports are written so that your insurer, your board, or the police can use them.
